Fan Not working at all

So I'm facing a tricky one here

I got a macbook pro early 2015 ( A1502)

So the fan was working at maximum speed

Did the SMC and everything system related - nothing happens

Installed Macs Fan Control.. Lowered the speed to the lowest.. Seems like it doesn't have an effect at all

So,

I decided to open the laptop and check what's going on

Found out that the mac was previously repaired

And who ever did made a power shortcut through the motherboard ( i don't know exactly how to explain it so I've uploaded a picture)

Block Image

So I've replaced the fan hoping that it will fix this problem

But after booting the fan is not working at all

Did the smc again, nothing happens

I just want to know either the problem is in the fan pin (so i can order a new one) or the logic board itself.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Lets get a bit more info here. First see if you can take a few pictures of the logic board where the fan cable was connected as well as the proper fan connection. I'm wondering if more patching about was done.

I would also run this app TG Pro. Do make sure you kill of MacsFanControl as you don't want it running at the same time as TG Pro. I find TG Pro is just a better solution than most everything else.

I can't download it right now as I'm dealing with a wifi issue at my workshop.

But MacsFanControl indicated that the CPU Temperature is between 90° and 100°.

So i would like to ask is it the normal temperature or I'm having an overheating issue since the fan starts working again as it turns out that the fan of this Macbook model only works when the CPU Needs to cool down

Thats running high! TG Pro offers a more detailed view on the other thermal sensors and the fan RPM info. If you buy the full version you'll also gain additional diagnostics of the other SMC sensors.

From the looks of the pictured part it seems whoever did the job tried to “save” on the fan cost of replacement (maybe the flat cable to the logic board damaged ?) by jumpering fan straight to the board. Considering the cost of that Mac and the one of a new fan seems pretty silly to me, but however..I’d try a new fan undoubtedly. Heaven knows what else you’ll find inside after seeing such a “creative” repair.

I spend the last 3 hours trying to figure out what's going on.

The problem that it has 512ssd so it's really worthy.

After several attempts with several fans i figure out that this Macbook model fan only works when needed. Means only when the CPU Needs to cool down.

I got the same idea regarding the fan.. Like it will not cost more than 60$.. Why creating this whole mess just for the fan.

I'm seriously worried about what else could this man has done to such a powerful machine. It's confuses me as well how he can simply mess with the logic board knowing that's the most important piece of this.

Likely had no way to buy the part. So sad ...

Another case of the need for 'Right to Repair' so the original parts are easier to get.

While the fan only works when needed (boiling temperature pretty much above 60°C). The new fans should spin no problem with fan control software on temperatures lower than that.

@ Alaa The fan costs about 15$ on ebay, even less if you have patience with a cheaper/slower delivery. If you're running without a fan right now it's no surprise the CPU ramps all the way up to 90/100 C.. I wouldn't be concerned about that, but don't keep it running too long.

The 512GB Ssd can be used anywhere on 2013/15 Pros in any case. Hope you don't get any other nasty surprise.
