New Screen wakes up on tap for less than a second then goes off

I ordered new ION-X screen and Digitizer for apple watch 2. I am trying to make the screen work before putting on the adhesive strips. It wakes up for less than a second and then off. Then I have to wait for a while for the watch screen to go to sleep in order to do this again.
