White gasket around my iPhone X rear camera looks disintegrated and looks rusty.Is it a manufacturing defect or cosmetic defect. What is the use of that gasket in iPhone X rear camera? Is it built inside or outside?

Was it dropped in any way? the metal frame of the camera could have came off and it some left over adhesive on the camera that was holding that plate

No Sir, It never dropped from my hand. Can you please tell me more about this gasket and it's usefulness? I want to know that is it just a cosmetic part or an essential part of the phone camera. Authorised service centre technician has rejected my request to repair under warranty as a cosmetic damage. Thanks for your advise in advance.
What I’m thinking is that there was a bumper at the end of the camera and that it came off and the white is just some adhesive that was holding the number. It’s not a huge problem but if the phone comes in contact with a drop or fall and lands on the back, there’s a higher chance at cracking the camera lense, as of right now I don’t think with that bumper gone that it’s going to effect anything inside of the phone.
