iPhone 7 fast battery drain

Hello. I have an iPhone 7 which is having problems with a quick battery drain. The phone charges fine up to 100%. Phone draws .8 to 1 amp on the Ammeter. However, after leaving the phone unplugged overnight, the battery drains to almost 0%. On opening the phone, there does not appear to be any water damage. I used the TriStar tester and it passed the tester. I regardless decided to replace the Triatar IC. However, the phone continues to act the same way with normal charging but fast battery drain.

I think there is a partial short somewhere on PP1V8_sdram line. Diode mode reading on C3211 is .260 V. This is lower compared to a known good board which is about .311 V. Would this explain the fast battery drain and if so is there a good way to find a partial short on a component? Thanks.

Has another battery been tried on there? Any functions that don't work on the phone or signs of liquid damage / corrosion?

Generally shorts show signs of heat on the board. Partial ones are fairly difficult to find.

Thanks for answering. I tried a different battery and had same issue. Audio not working fully meaning can't hear when someone calls and they can't hear me. Other audio functions work. Calls work when using the speaker. I know that the the PP1v8_sdram goes under the Audio IC. Perhaps the partial short is under this chip and removing and removing this will fix the audio issues and the short?

Which pad under the audio IC is for pp1v8_sdram? If it's the one near the edges of the audio IC that is generally a loose pad that needs a jumper to fix that.

It may fix the short and should fix the audio IC problem.

@refectio paging Minho as he may have more info on this problem.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the minor difference in diode mode readings...at least for now. However, because you have an apparent Audio IC issue, start by completing that repair and then test. Have you probed the other PMIC outputs?
