won't work in dock after battery change

I replaced the battery in my iPod 4G. The earbuds work fine, but I don't get anything except some static when I plug in to my InMotion. Any ideas??

Update

I tried my InMotion (dock) with a friend's Nano and it worked. So it appears to be my iPod 4G. Before I replaced the battery I'd have to shift the iPod around in the dock to get it to play from both speakers. Now however, it won't play regardless of any manner of shifting. It's not as though an internal jack is loose..the only 2 connections are the battery cable and the speaker jack, both of which are connected and working. When you put it in the dock and hit play you get a whining sound that increases as you increase the volume.

The next test for me is to find another dock (my friend with the Nano didn't have one) and see if it works in that.

Well, you might have bumped something directly on the motherboard when you replaced the battery.. It's very possible you will need to replace the motherboard.

Sounds like the problem is with your dock, if you can, try putting another iPod in there and seeing if there's still trouble. Your iPod's probably fine.
