Illuminator/Sensor flex replacement => faceID affected?

Hi,

i’ve accidentally damaged the flex of the front speaker / illuminator assembly.

so FaceID isn’t working now, couldn’t set ip up, no particular error message.

Front Camera is working expect the portrait

animoji is working good.

so I assume on of the sensor is affected and my question is simple :

is the FaceID functions will be still available if i replace the full front speaker/sensor module ?

FaceID depends on the front camera flex being paired with the phone so using another one would disable FaceID.

To get FaceID working again you will need to get the screen replaced by apple.

Hi,

i’m not talking about the front camera assembly,

but the earpiece speaker who also came with the flood illuminator sensor who is mounted directly on the screen bezel.

this sensor is used into the FaceID process and also in portrait mode for blur effect.

and don’t know if changing this piece will affect FaceID motherboard pairing.

He is right, if you damage this flex cable you will need help from apple because this peace is part of the Face ID Hardware. You will need help from Apple or form a guy that can transfer the small components to another flex Cable. (Micro-Soldering).

Oh ok, sorry havn’t understand that he’s speaking about that flood sensor.

Was thinking can fix that issue with a cheap used piece but seems i’ve to deals with Apple.

Anyone knows how Apple will react with an opened phone and watermarked ?

They will reject it for sure, try to remove the red ones and try to find a good ones from another phone.

like « hey guys, i’ve droped this phone into my hot tube, i’ve messed up the front flex for FaceID, how much will it cost me to get the phone fixed ? »

I’m ready to buy another one, but it’s a shame that a pristine Iphone X couldn’t be fixed …
