Screen colors are working when I connect my laptop to an external display and also, colors shows correctly on screenshots.

Here is how it looks:

Hello Maria,

I have the exact same issue with my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports). But this problem occurred just 3-4 months after my warranty had ended.

I did all the color invert checks from accessibility setting. I believe this is a hardware issue.

Were you able to find a solution other that taking your device to service?

Thanks

Can

Hello! I tried doing a fresh installation of the operating system and tried calibrating the screen but it didn't work. Also some keyboards stopped working by the time my display showed issues. I had no option other to take it to a Genius Bar and they ran some tests. They concluded that is was a display issue so I had to replace it. They also replaced the keyboard, luckily they have a service program for that.

@magd_ Sorry too hear you ended up getting a new display. Don't for get to accept the answer - Thanks!

Hello,

I gave my macbook to service on last Thursday and they called me today and told me that the problem was in the display screen itself. They checked the wires, connections etc but could not find a problem. Then decided the problem was the screen. It is approx. 450€ here in Turkey but the guy told me that they are only checking the cables to the motherboard side. According to their procedure, if the problem is on the display side cables, they directly change the screen.

The funny part is, even they could not define the root cause for this problem! They admitted that I took very good care of my MacBook.

Anyway, I do not know how long I can continue using my device because it effecting all the video playing/color displaying processes.

They are basically saying that if your computer crashes or have any problems in one morning you wake up, they directly charge you if your warranty has ended!

If you hadn’t tried an external display I would have said you must be taking some good stuff to see these chroma effects!

Have you tried checking the display settings under the System Preference’s?

As your external is working correctly it does narrow things down to the internal display logic. Unlike older models which used iDP (also known as eDP) which is an internal version of DisplayPort, this system uses a direct feed from the GPU logic to the T-CON board within the main case then the ribbon cables interconnect to the LCD within the display. Here’s a view of the connections on the T-CON board.

The T-CON and the display are all within the same assembly. There is no way to fix this other than replacing the full assembly. Is your system covered under AppleCare or AppleCare + If it is then you’ll need to visit an Apple Store or authorized service center. If not its not going to be cheap!

Hi! I'm having the issue explained in this post, thank you for your comments. Just to make sure I understood correctly. Does this mean that it's necessary to replace the whole macbook display (display, webcam, and everything on the lid?) just for the T-CON?

@Gabriela Cabral - Sadly you need to full display assembly which has everything in it and attached to it in this case the T-CON board. The T-CON can't be replaced on it own.

It seems like you have some sort of inverted colors on which usually if this is on it changes the color of everything on the screen and not just images. what I would try is to click the apple on the top left corner then click system preferences and then after that click accessibility then click display you want to make sure the 6 top boxes aren’t checked.

if this doesn’t work you could try the color settings under display.

If this still doesn’t work then I would head into an apple store and see what they have to say. If you don’t want to do that option you could back up your computer and do a factory reset. if it continues to have issues then it could be hardware related.
