What do I need to replace when upgrading the BGA Processor?

Hello, I have a Lenovo Ideapad S400 (somewhat similar to the laptop above). My laptop is equipped with a Pentium 987 (Dual Core 1.5GHz), it sucks on everything I do. Paired with a 5400rpm HDD and 2GBs of sloppy 1666MHz ram, it plays League of Legends on 40 ish fps on 720p (I have an external 1080p monitor due to the minuscule screen on the laptop. I’ve been thinking to upgrade the processor. Remove the existing P987 by heating it up and replacing it with a similar BGA processor. I have found some candidates for my upgrade but then what bothers me is that I might remove some other components as well in the process to be successful. Any ideas?

A SSD (solid stae drive) would speed things up.

I've considered that option but I am looking for a more... let's say better overall upgrade

@real_yeetsouls “replacing it with a similar BGA processor “, not going to work. You will need something that is identical to the BGA1023 of your processor not similar. You will also need a rework station to get this array properly aligned. Not saying that it can’t be done but if you have never done it or do not have the right tools to do so, I would consider replacing the complete laptop. A new processor may not recognize the architecture of your current motherboard etc.

I appreciate the help. Thanks!

Great Answer, replacing Ball Grid Array Chips is very tricky even taking it off board as I have done a lot of them on TV main boards. Easier for him if he just replace the laptop main board.
