I am thinking of upgrading storage

So I have Macbook Air 2017 1.8Ghz 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD and I am thinking of upgrading storage.

Can anyone share their experiences with them?

Could this problem be solved completely or could the life of the device be reduced?

I don’t have a lot of skill, so I will probably ask for help. In more context, I have this for almost a year and I like it.

Fast and quiet. My only complaint is to upgrade to Mojave. Some apps are a bit slow to boot and have a slow experience on Safari, but they do not really matter.

I plan to go to law school soon and I have unlimited cloud storage with OneDrive, but I want to optimize the free space and device speed and performance for local files.

Hope to get some insight.

Thank you in advance.

It is feasible to use the MacBook Air with 128GB. Applications and MacOS on average take about 50GB.

As long as you keep photo backups on online storage such as Google Photos / OneDrive and if you also have an iPhone you can use iCloud to backup the rest of the stuff excluding photos (Google Photos supports backing up photos to cloud too).

Avoid doing iTunes backups on the MacBook if possible as they are quite difficult to delete properly from the MacBook.

Definitely upgrade to mojave if you haven’t already, the boot up speed and performance is improved over each major MacOS version.
