MacBook air battery refuses to charge after replacement.

My early 2015 13” macbook air will not charge after having replaced the battery with an ifixit replacement and followed the instructions on this website. Energy Saver will only say that the battery is at 0% and won’t allow me to display the battery status on the menu bar. Orange light on charger suggests the battery is receiving power and I have already tried an SCM reset which didn’t work.
