Keyboard issues! 3, E, D& C keys sporadicly working.

Ditto routine - replaced screen now EEEEEEEEE is stuck and won’t relent - I used an external keyboard and disabled the Mac keyboard but now it is just getting worseeeeeee with now D key (and others) either sticking or not collaborating - nurd guy at genius counter suggested I trade in the whole shebang for a 900 dollar coupon but “most likely it is your batter swollen and pressing against the keys…” instead of $400 + to look at it, could be battery, could be more…”but we really would like to harvest your computer parts” (evil grin)

instead:

Ordered new battery

Will follow various youtube university videos

I’ll let you know

@mikancaro - Ifixit offers guides and vids on how to replace the battery and has a neat kit which offers all the needed stuff. Sadly it needs to be shipped via ground.

As far as your problem with the EEEEEEE's thats not a battery issue! Thats a keyboard issue within the keyboard its self. The E key is a heavy used key and the rubber dome may have failed within that key.

A pressure issue would effect one or more of the scan lines (H or V) so more than one key would be effected. As an example the keys Q, W, E, R ,T & Y (H) or 3, E, D, & C (V) would all be effected.

I would recommend you review some of the vids on popping off the keycap on the E key to see if you can see if you see something amiss.

Warning! Only do the older Scissor keys not the newer Butterfly keys.

I eeeeerred in not adddddequately describing my symptoms: - 3, E, D, & C and sometimes others?, are affected - sometimes it will write on itself eeeeee - sometimes none of them will work - sometimes they will add themselvese toe the ende of the wordse I am typing - I have NO reason to believe that it is anything but a pressure issue. Can't log on as it will add additional letters

As I said: I'll keep you posted

Could it just be the trackpad cable that goes over the battery as they commonly go bad?

When replacing the screen was the keyboard cable unplugged as there is no need to do so for a screen replacement?

Changed battery - problem persists - actually have a similar problem on my O T H E R MacBook Pro: this time it is the "o" area where several keys intermittent fail... [operator error? find the common denominator = me!!!]

Both batteries (in both laptops) had charge cycles over 350
