Phone power cycles between off and apple log when plug in to charger and battery isn’t charging, try to DFU or Recovery mode phone but iTunes doesn’t acknowledge phone plug to PC. Should I try to use a charged battery to update software or is there something else that I can do ? I’m trying not to have to open the phone. Thanks in advance for your answer.

boot looping is typically caused by three things in most cases. Battery, motherboard, software, from my experience in that order of how likely it is to be the problem (excluding certain device issues, such as iphone 7 home buttons being ripped). if you’ve already tried software, and it won’t install, you’ll end up having to open the device to try a known good battery. if that doesn’t work, you can try to frankenstein a charge port on the device (no need to fully install, just connect it) long enough to attempt the factory reflash.
