Wont charge but able to connect to pc

I am trying to fix a phone atm, but i am not sure is it the battery problem or the charging port problem. It wont charge though cable when i plug it in. it will only detect for a split second then cant be detected again. I am able to get files out from the phone using the cable but cant charge through the pc either

If a valid connection can be made each and every time via the computer, then most likely your USB cord is OK and the correct power level is being delivered to the phone which in turn enables the phone for file transfers. This procedure should indicate the charging socket is functional. If I personally was trying to troubleshoot this problem, I would start to suspect either a malfunctioning battery or malfunctioning charging circuit internal to the phone. Others mileage may differ.
