Macbook Air won’t respond to boot key, but boots up with trackpad not connected. Replaced keyboard. Now it boots, but left option and shift are forever on. Replaced this keyboard but now the left shift key doesn’t work. Two bad keyboards in a row?

Quite unlikely, there’s a good chance the problem is not the keyboard. You may start with trying to reseat/replace the trackpad to keyboard flat cable, if that doesn’t work it may still be a bad trackpad. If nothing works you probably sit with a bad logic board and few useless replacements, but there’s no way out unless you take it for repair at a third party lab.
