Kenmore 110 VMW basket won't spin freely
I am receiving an F7E1 error code on a Kenmore 110 series VWM drive top load washer. When I run the automatic automatic test mode diagnostic, I get good cold water, good hot water, good both water, good agitate, and good drain. I hear the shifter, but then I do NOT get a spin. I confirmed all of these with the manual test mode - my problem is BOTH the low spin and the high spin.
I replaced the shifter with a new part. But I continue to have the same problem.
I removed the basket and double checked everything with the pump and I see no coins, lost socks, etc. But I continue to have the same problem.
At this point, I continue to have the F7E1 error.
Also, I am UNABLE to perform the tachometer verification test as the basket does NOT spin freely.
Also, I am UNABLE to complete the calibration test; after approximately 2 minutes of test, I get a flashing lid lock error.
I confirmed that the motor works, and that the belt is in good shape.
I confirmed that the bottom of the motor turns and then doesn’t turn when I manually move the shifter from one position to the other position.
Since I’ve tried a new shifter, and since I’ve removed the basket to ensure I don’t have problems from the top, I’m wondering:
1) how do I diagnose the problem in the drive from the bottom? What’s keeping the basket from spinning freely? (or should it not spin? - I saw older posts suggesting that the basket doesn’t spin freely unless the top is locked, but then I don’t understand how one could manually spin the basket to perform the tachometer verification?)
2) why am I unable to perform the tachometer verification test?
3) why am I unable to complete the calibration test?
Thanks, in advance, for any advice you may have. Respectfully,

When I answered this three days ago I must have missed the part that you were getting the flashing lid lock during diagnostics. You have a bad lid lock. The shifter will not engage without the lid locked. The lid lock is several switches and is unable to be bypassed. It sends a pulse voltage to the board and that can’t be created in a bypass. The tech sheet should have explained the lid lock flashing error in the tech sheet.
