Whirlpool ADP 5554, F4 error

Hello,

Im at a new house and the dishwasher has a problem. In a 90 minutes program it will wash for 60+ minutes without a problem and then in what looks to be the final drain of water, it drains the water but then the pump wont stop working even though theres no more water to drain causing it to show 4 flashes and consequently not finishing the program.

The other day I unmounted the pump to see if it was clogged or something and after swithching all back on it made a complete cycle, so I thought problem solved, but the next time I ran it, it had the same problem again.

Thanks for the help, and I can give more details.

The error, 4 flashing lights, indicates a slow drain. This could be the drain pump impeller is damaged and no spinning properly. It could also be a linked drain hose or a clog in the drain hose. Usually the drain hose attaches to the garbage disposal or to the plumbing under the sink. I’d take the hose off and inspect it for a clog. It is usually some nasty, thick, gummy sludge that has collected. Clean it out the reattach and run the dishwasher. The drain hose coul be linked anywhere from to pump to sink. You’ll have to look for that. I’m attaching a link to a video that might also be the problem. I’m not sure if your machine has this part, if not disregard. https://youtu.be/RfeFTdSdNYQ

First of all, thank you for the answer. I have made multiple cycles with the drain hose draining to a bucket, so I know is not any kind of obstruction/clog, because when the drain starts water comes freely and then it comes with less and less flow rate.

Regarding the pressure switch, that was exactly what I have tried to mention in comment above. Yesterday I actually took it out of the machine and cleaned it, it had some greasy oil on the membrane that could be harming its function, the following video helped a lot finding the switch,. The machine in the video is very similar to mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mamUY0XE...

For now I have run a cycle and all worked fine, I will make some more next days and let know if the problem was fixed. Thanks

F4 E4 Error Code

  1. Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker or unplugging for one (1) minute.
  2. Power unit up by reconnecting power.
  3. Restart a new cycle.
  4. Monitor the washer for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not display again.

Did that today, and the error code showed up again, after the third time (I guess) the machine drains.

Also note that the 30" (economic one) program works fine from start to finish. Only the "bigger" programs show up the 4 flashes.

Could this be something related with the valve? the one that is activated with the level of water in the machine? Thats my next experiment at the moment.

@ladytech Loretta another one for you.

I took the piece on this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mamUY0XE...) and cleaned the rubber diafragm, It had grease in it so it would get stuck, giving the machine wrong information about water in it.

Thanks Jorge

I checked my adp4527 whirlpool 2007

Couldn't find the pressure diaphragm.

It seems it doesnt have any.

I have an OWI sensor, optical, seems clean..

Or Is it somewhere else in this model?
