LCD TV has horizontal lines

My TV started out a month ago with different colored horizontal lines on the left side and then one day the TV went completely White with no picture at all so I shut it off for a while and unplugged it recently I plugged it back in now I get a picture but the left side has a white horizontal strip with colored lines in it and it looks as if the screen gets lighter going to the left any help is appreciated my TV model number is Sharp LC-55N7000U 55-Inch

@brandon300325 that looks like a failed LCD driver board. Remove the back from your TV and look up at the panel where the “Lines” atr. You should see a thine ribbon cable coming of the driver board entering the LCD panel. Gently push on the flat ribbon cable. See if that makes a difference to the lines. If so it is the ribbon cable (check TAB) which may have come loose from the connection. If not then it is most likely a failed gate driver. Post some good pictures of all of your boards and the interconnect wiring so we can see what you see and hopefully assist you further. The LCD driver board is part of the panel and can very seldom be replaced by a DIY’er.

@oldturkey03 I did as you said and gently push the ribbon cables into their connections. But I had no change in the picture, the power board looks like it has some kind of burnt spots on it. I'm not sure if that would cause any problem with the picture.

@brandon300325 post some pictures of that board with your question and let us see.

@brandon300325 your power board does look like it has some stains on there but hard to see with those shadows. Any chance for a bit better picture or at least one where you point to the component that looks odd to you? Also turn the board around at let us see what you got going on with that.

Hi Anderson,

LCD display screens are made up of two thin layers of glass containing liquid crystal material between them. When the glass becomes damaged, debris infiltrates the crystal layer or another issue occurs with the display function, this causes vertical lines of color to appear when the monitor is fully illuminated. These lines can be either permanent due to internal failure or temporary due to faulty display connections.

Diagonal, jagged and both horizontal and vertical lines typically indicate panel damage.

If the lines are infrequent in their appearance, or are not permanently visible, a loose video cable is often the problem.

The first step in troubleshooting is determining the extent of the damage. Re-seat any video input cables or consider replacing the cables with new ones. Should the lines continue to display, this indicates an internal failure. If it is the case, You may need to replace something within.

@v3nuo "Most LCD use fluorescent tubes for the backlight, the tubes on the right may be on their way out." not any longer. Most LCD's are now using LED backlight. CCFL tubes have pretty much disappeared.
