iPhone X Boot loop! Low battery then Apple Logo

I’m having issues with my iPhone X. When I try switch it on ordinarily, not plugged in or anything it shows the screen that prompts you to plug the phone in to charge. When plugged in the phone goes to the screen which shows the iphone is plugged in but low charge. It then displays the apple logo for about 5 seconds, then goes black, then goes to the low charge screen again. It keeps repeating this no matter how long its on charge for.

I’ve tried putting the phone into DFU mode by pressing the volume up bottom, then the volume down button then the power button it then goes to the restore screen where it asks to plug it into itunes. Itunes doesn’t detect the phone at all, was expecting it to prompt me to restore and update like it normal does.

Have been thinking about replacing the battery to see if that’s the issue as it doesn’t seem to be taking charge at all

Any help would be massively appreciated

Update (09/22/2019)

Hi everyone, the situation has now advanced in a good way! I disconnected the battery, disconnected the screen and then connected the battery back up. Pressed up, then down then held the sleep key and to be shock it detected the phone!

From here I restored the phone and updated to IOS 13. I’ve now got to the welcome stage of the phone on iTunes however when I connect the screen back up it goes back into a boot loop!

The screen appears to be the issue here I recon. Should I just get a new screen? I’ve checked the connections on the motherboard and they seem okay no visible damage or dust in there. Not too sure what to do

Yes, replace the battery first.

Replacing the battery would be a good first step to try and solve the problem. Also, the reason you’re having issues with DFU mode is because by the sounds of things you’re not in DFU mode in the first place. To enter DFU mode follow these steps:

  1. Plug your phone into your computer with iTunes open
  2. Press and release the Volume Up button
  3. Press and release the Volume Down button
  4. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until your phone’s screen goes black
  5. Press and hold both the Volume Down and the Sleep/Wake button for 5 seconds
  6. Release the Sleep/Wake button while continuing to hold down the Volume Down button
  7. After about 5 seconds iTunes should detect an iPhone in recovery mode

You can be sure you’re in DFU mode if iTunes detects your phone in recovery mode and your phone screen is black. If your phone shows anything other than a black screen, try following the steps again.

Hope this helps!

Did you solve this problem? I have the same situation but on a XR

Phone I believe has now gone into DFU mode however the screen has gone completely black and won't turn back on now. Not detected in itunes either... Waiting on a new battery to arrive as i'm certain the battery is knackered

Have now replaced the battery. No longer getting the low charge message, but just getting the apple logo on loop. Have tried putting it in recovery mode, it doesn't get detected by itunes. Have tried putting it into DFU mode and it's still not detected by itunes. I'm now totally out of ideas...

Are you running the latest version of iTunes? That may not be the problem, but its best to rule out every possibility

Hi there. Yea using the latest version of iTunes

I replaced the battery which involved removing the charging flex so don't think that's the cause unforuntely. As of today I disconnected the battery, disconnected the screen and then connected the battery back up. Pressed volume up, then down then held the sleep key and to be shock it detected the phone. Any ideas what could be the issue?

Have you resolved this issue, I am having the exact problem and just ordered a battery and hoping that was the solution @stewartps

Just fixed one with this pb today, it comes from the part on top of the screen (responsible for face id, speaker for calls, and light control, don't know the name in English, in French it's what we call “visio”.

You have to replace it to stop the bootloop (normally less expensive than a battery and much less than a screen).

Note that you will lose the face id, but your phone won't be locked in bootloop.

Hope it helps

Just disconnect ear piece/face id and see if phone boots. That is what i did to narrow it down to the face id/ear piece flex cable

this works!!

Wow this really worked for me. I have gone days trying different things, i even had to change my display since it had a crack thinking it was the problem. I also changed my battery until i stumbled on this page. I remembered my face id had stopped working for quite some time and even my speaker was very low so i figured that must be the fault. I tried it and immediately the phone boot up. Thanks a lot guys. You really saved me a lot of time and money.
