I removed the top of the cannister. The bottom closed, now I can't

I was trying to clean the canister of my dyson DC07. I removed the top (with the 3 screws) and as I was doing so the bottom closed. Now I can’t get the little rod back into the hole to open the bottom of the canister. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Yes hind sight is always 20/20. I should have made sure the bottom didn’t close :(
