Hi I have an iPhone 7 that only charges when turned off. I have tried changing Tristar twice, Tigris once but still have the same issue. When plugging into a charging cable, ITunes recognizes it but does not show a charging symbol and no amps are drawn from a USB ammeter. However, when the phone is plugged in and turned off, the usb shows a power draw of about 1 amp. I have also changed Q2101. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

So you have replaced all the charging circuit. If this was happening to me I would remove the audio ic and run jumpers. The H12 and J12 pads are known to fail and they end up at tristar. I would also run a jumper from D12 to G12 that’s the SDRam pads and the trace between them is known to break, this also goes to the tristar chip. While you are running jumpers you might as well run the D12 one.

Thanks Will try that If H12 and J12 pads fail, would that cause audio not to work as well? Because audio is not working except headphones. Btw, phone turns on fairly quick .
I would say yes as I have run just the D12 jumper and phone booted straight up, Voice memos were available, Siri responded but on making a call I could not hear the other person but they could hear me. I took the audio IC off again and ran the H12 and J12 jumpers and all was good. However that could have just meant that there was a floating solder ball or an oxidised pad under the audio IC.

It sounds like the issue may be with the cable itself — have you tried other cables?
Also, does your iPhone charge while powered on and connected to a wall outlet?

Yes have tried other cables and no difference . Phone turns on when plugged into USB and ammeter shows normal charging amps . Once phone turns on, phone stops charging. Only starts to charge again when phone turned off
Just to add, plugged in my phone last night with it off. Turned it on this morning and 100% charged. However, again not charging when plugged in and ON.

Mine fixed after charging u2 ic. Try the U2 ic from dead motherboard reball, and it worked.
