Part of the screen has no image after repair

The touch screen connector was replaced. After that, my device worked okay for about a month, until this issue appeared:

About one quarter to one third of the screen became gray blank. It is always the same size, but the “texture” changes. When you turn the screen on, this blank part starts black, then it slowly goes gray (brighter) and so the texture becomes clearly visible. Also, there are very rare moments, when this blank part disappears at all and you can see the full screen, as it should be, for a second or less.

What I’ve noticed recently (and I’m not sure it was so from the start) is that exactly this blank part is not responsive to touch either.

What might be the problem? What parts of the device have to be replaced or repaired?

Screen problems showing after replacing a connector on the board would suggest me to first check the work that was done on the board previously. Having been opened before, I’d speculate it was for fixing a previous problem, was it a bump, a liquid damage ? A known good screen would make things easier and help figuring out if it’s an Lcd or a board issue.

Well, yes, it started when I dropped it (no liquid). So, the screen was broken. I've tried to replace it myself, but failed. I've damaged contacts on the touch screen socket connecter. What I've learned surfing web is that these contacts are especially weak on that model. So, next, I went to a repair service, and they replaced the socket connecter, soldering a new one (the touch screen connecter, not the display one). No other service was done before or after it. I will try another screen, if possible, in the next few days.
