Water/gin-tonic damage. 2 years ago. MacBook Pro mid 2017.Fluid stains

Hi,

I have got my hands on a MacBook Pro mid 2017. It has water damage and it was declared dead by Apple technicians. Now I want to try to bring this thing back alive.

I have read multiple guides about repairing after water damage. But maybe somebody can help me specifically.

I’ve openend the case and instantly stumbled upon some fluid stains, black-ish and brown-ish residu of gin-tonic. Gin-tonic is what is told to me.

Is there any guide or website that can tell me what parts are what. Like a circuit blueprint or something.

I provided a picture with this post. Maybe someone can tell me what parts are affected. as its clearly visible in the picture. I tried to circle all the stains, but maybe you will find more. And hopefully you can tell me what these parts are, and if theres still a chance to bring it back alive. Fingers-crossed.

Pull the board and have it ultrasonically cleaned in a solution of distilled water and Bransons cleaner and you might have a shot.

So, after cleaning, I re-montage it and try to power it, to see if it works. Is that what you mean. What does the red sticker say? Some are white and some are red. Someone told me that says something about the spillage. Is that right?

I live in the Netherlands, And I am not sure what type of ultrasonic cleaner I need to order. The Bransons cleaners that are available to buy are quite expensive, if I am right? Any under the 100 euro ultrasonic cleaners I can get my hands on? And do I need a specific type cleaner?

Also I went to a repair-shop and they told me they could clean it and let it get inspected for 200 euros. But when I searched the web for ultrasonic cleaners, I can find cleaners for 50 euros. So I thought I might just buy a cleaner and try it myself. But like said not sure if right cleaner.

The red and white dots are called LSI (liquid submersion indicators). The red ones are the ones that have been in contact with liquid. 200 euros for putting your board in an ultrasonic cleaner is way out of line. Check with some other shops.
