I have just purchased an XONE mobile phone. Can't get it to make call

I have just purchased a xone mobile phone. I live in Australia and have telstra network sim card.

I can't make calls. It says it is calling but no sound or dial tone. Nothing.

I can send messages but can't call anyone.

Hi,

There is no dial tone when calling out on a mobile phone. The phone should indicate on the display that it is connected to the Telstra network and also there should be a signal strength indicator as well (up to 5 bars)

Can you receive calls OK?
