Dead iPad changed charging port and tri chip already

iPad 6th gen had problems charging for the last 6 months. Tried different chargers, cords and cleaned port our originally. Took it to the local ibreakufix shop near me. They replaced the port and then the tri chip and still no power. This is my 5 year old sons ipad and we have had it for approximately 2 years. I have an electrical engineering degree and know how to solder but don’t have the equipment to do micro soldering are this time. My questions is what else would cause this type of issue and/or what to do to being to trouble shoot what’s happening. Also when plugging in to my mac to see if I could update or get in to dfu mode it don’t see my iPad on the Mac USB port. Appreciate any help you all can give or any advice on what I should do. Thank you for taking time to read this and have a great day.

You can check out my answer here (Randomly Shuts Off After Battery Replacement) for a similar problem. In my experience, iPad charging issues follow this pattern:

  1. Check the battery condition with a software tool like 3uTools. If the battery shows signs of wear (less than 70-75% of design capacity), replace the battery.
  2. Check the battery charging with a USB ammeter. If the battery isn’t drawing 1-2A, depending on the charger and charge state, it may be a bad battery or faulty charging circuit. It’s usually the battery ;>).
  3. If/when you open the device, check the screws holding the charge port in place (see step 82 of this guide). The ones highlighted or the ones on top (as seen in the image) can become loose. If they are loose, your charge port flex is almost certainly damaged and will require replacement (micro-soldering required).
  4. If the flex is good and the battery seems fine, then it may be logic board related. This can be the Tristar IC or in some cases the PMIC. The PMIC is a difficult repair and the replacement part is quite expensive.
