Which is better, upgrade SSD or buy external hard drive?
Deciding to upgrade my SSD on my Macbook Air early 2015 model or to buy an external hard drive. I do not know which option would be better in the long run.

@aactech - This is a bit tricky! While someone who is mobile often wants more internal storage there is a cost factor of the custom Apple SSD's, using a M.2 Ssd with an adapter is not ideal as they tend to fail quickly! This is due to the fact Apple does some special stuff which the M.2 SSD can't emulate.
If you need to carry lots of stuff then upgrading your internal SSD is the way to go! The Ultimate Guide to Apple’s Proprietary SSDs or using either a OWC or Transcend SSD's
I often find having an external drive offers important benefits too! If you only need access to some stuff when you are home as well as offering a backup just in case! That way you can trim down your needed storage internally.
O.K. thanks Dan. I guess I professional worked with Macs when they weren't so fussy. They seem so unnecessarily complicated these days though I do remember taking out approximately 56 screws to upgrade a friends Mac laptop 20 years ago.
