Moniter turning off and on completely when pc turns on

Acer SB220Q

So I recently bought a moniter on Amazon and it turned and it looks like it was going to work. I hook it up to my gaming pc I built via hdmi and turn my pc on. Right after the windows logo appeared it the moniter turns off completely and so does the light. It turns on again with the Acer logo then I see a split second of the windows sign in and it repeats the process. I think the problem is the power cable because I compared it to an old computers one and the output is about 1.4A (something like that) compared to about 3.4! I recently bought a new replacement cable and I hope it fixes it but I have a feeling the problem might be something else??

Hi @jp8380 ,

Please verify the make and model number of the monitor as the one shown above is from 2012?

Is the monitor's power cable connected to a power outlet on the PC's PSU or to a separate wall power outlet?

@jp8380 has it ever worked for you? Have you tried to reinastall the display driver for your OS? Have you tried to connect the monitor to some other device? Where on the power cord (did you mean power adapter?) did yo umeasure this "and the output is about 1.4A (something like that) compared to about 3.4"? Try to run a Linux distro CD or something similar from your computer without booting into Windows to rule it out as the cause.

@oldturkey03 how do I reinstall that driver and I've tries connecting to moniter to my old computer and I get the same result. I checked the sticker of the brick part from the power adapter with an input of of 100-240V and an output of 19v 1.58A the model is SB220Q but I couldnt find it on this. If I boot into bios same thing.

@jayeff The model is SB220Q sorry I couldnt find it. The monitors power cable is connected to a separate wall outlet.

@jp8380 your Acer power supply needs to be a 19V 3.42A 65W

Hi @jp8380 ,

Don’t turn on the PC, just turn on the monitor and see if you can view the monitor's OSD (On Screen Display) menus without the monitor powering off and then powering on again.

I assume that it powers off and not just that the screen turns off, because you said "... moniter turns off completely and so does the light."?

Is seems as though there is a problem with the power supply connection in the monitor itself.

If it is a new monitor, don't open it as you will void the warranty. Contact the seller about the problem and if they don't want to know about it contact Acer support in your location.

If it is a “used” monitor, then still contact the seller about the problem, as the item is faulty, unless it was sold this way and you knew about it before you bought it.

In the meantime, hopefully the service manual for the monitor may be found if you don’t get a good response from the seller or the manufacturer, so that perhaps you can repair the monitor. But go the warranty route first if possible!
