Error Code SU-42118-6 After Update 7.50

since update 7.50 my PlayStation Pro only shows the error SU-42118-6. ย would installing a new drive fix the error? ย or can't I just swap the drive without the mainboard?

BD-ROM Drive Error / Can Not Communicate with BD-ROM. Check BD-ROM Ribbon between motherboard and drive. If the tabs are broken, replace cable and test. Also check connectors for breaks or corrosion. If no better, check and replace drive board fuses where bad:

This is an actual issue as myself and quite a few people have seen this since this update. I put my PS4 in the shop on Friday because of the same issue you are having. Over the past few days, I've seen articles in which we aren't the only ones seeing this message. I haven't seen any word on a Song fix for the firmware version 7.50 at this time (the one causing the SU-42118-6 error for me, you and others). I'm waiting but for the shop to let me know as I've updated them with the info I've seen online.

I to am having this issue but mine is stuck in the update loop. I can access safe mode, as soon as try to update through USB or option 3 it starts the update and than says it can't update and restarts or shuts off. I was able to order a new HD from Best Buy and did curbside pick up. I have not tried to install it or the software yet cause I'm afraid the same thing may happenโ€ฆ.

Same with my Pro. Iโ€™m also debating updating my slim. This happened to my pro over the weekend and I canโ€™t get it out. I was actually looking at SSD last night and debating doing it because of the same fear. I really donโ€™t want to drop another $100+ on this pro when I have the extra 2 year protection from BestBuy on it. Please let me know if you follow through. I really donโ€™t want to waste any extra $ right now.

์˜

So the new HD didnt workโ€ฆ.smhโ€ฆ..I was able to find the 7.02 software and install that. As soon as the ps4 booted up I entered my psn info and it told me I had to update to the 7.50 update. I tried that and nothing back to the same loop.. Really starting to get more !#^&@@ and tempted to throw my ps4 out the window..lolโ€ฆSMDHโ€ฆ

์˜

did the same with replanting HD, didnโ€™t do nothing, still stuck, $@$* is so dumb

์˜

You do know you got to download PlayStation file from their website once installing new hard drive? I copied it on to usb then runned it onto new hard drive with that it did the new update , anyone worried about same thing happening on new hard drive you can just reformat the corrupt hard drive using a laptop or another computer

์˜

Download the latest software version on ps website and transfer it to usb and it will work if you use a new hard drive or reformat the previous drive I managed to fix my sons with the same issues you were having

์˜

๋Œ“๊ธ€ ๋‹ฌ๊ธฐ

The reason is a blown fuse related to the BluRay player on the mainboard. The fuses name is F6202. Just replace it.

๋Œ“๊ธ€ 7๊ฐœ:

So is this the reason for the crash or for the BluRay issue people are having? My PS4 isn't taking the update at all even after the new hard drive. Like I stated above, after the new hard drive it wouldn't take the update. I found the software for 7.02, it initialized, installed, and booted up. When I signed into psn it said there was a new 7.50 update, I tried that and back to the boot loop. I had the same issue with the 5.02 update and installing a new hard drive did the job..

์˜

Are there any links to help do this?

์˜

Did you try what he said it was? Iโ€™m having the same problem and everything Iโ€™ve googled and tried isnโ€™t working @kristen martin

์˜

doubtful. blue ray works, this is giving me this error when patching an online game not a blue ray player disc. and what would a blue ray player have anything what so ever to do with an online patch?

์˜

Your actually kinda dumb, It's a CD-ROM issue linked to the blue-ray system of the ps4, not a hard-drive issue. People who replace their hard-drive and think that's gonna fix it are just blind, it's a fuse issue. if the fuse between the motherboard and the Disk tray isn't blown then it's the flat wire that goes between the two. Replace that and t should work. No need to spend an excess amount of money on a new hard-drive and go through the bullshit of downloading the update from a computer

Broken ribbon connector between bd-rom and motherboard. Try flipping it before ordering a new one. It worked for me. I believe the issue affects people who have opened their ps4 for cleaning or fixing another issue. When removing the ribbon cable connecting the bd-rom to the motherboard they broke the left pin on bd-rom slot. By flipping it, it might bypass the issue. I also updated using a USB stick so I didn't have to download every time I tried another fix. Also used the 1 gig version of the update;not sure if that made any difference. Good luck.

๋Œ“๊ธ€ 1๊ฐœ:

I got my ps4 used and I was told before I bought it that the disk drive never worked, that didn't bother me because I figured I can just buy a new one, even with it not working I was able to update until the 8.03 update came out, I did tones of research, then took my console apart, I realized the plastic cover to the ribon cable for the disk drive under the psu was cracked, so I went to the dollar store and bought a tube of superglue, and put a drop on the cable connector and held it for 10 seconds, then put the console back together and downloaded the update thrugh a USB, and it was done in about ten minutes, plus my disk drive worked for the first time, I probably could've downloaded the update of from wifi and still have it work, so one drop of super glue that cost me a dollar and nine cents fixed all of the problems on a ps4 that cost me $40

์˜

๋Œ“๊ธ€ ๋‹ฌ๊ธฐ

Disk worked on my PS4 but I still get the error. Updating in safe mode doesn't work. Inserting disk doesn't work. Inserting disk in PS4 disk tray does open it up. Therefore the BD Rom should be communicating with the motherboard, right?

Am on 7.00 updating to 8.03

Have a PS4 Pro here. All fuses test (F6201, F6202 and F6001) ok. Ribbon connector looks ok. Still have the error when updating from 7.01 to 8.03 Suspect other hardware is faulty.
