MacBook Pro won't turn on Late 2013

Hi. I hope someone can help me sort the problem out.

I was doing some work when my MacBook Pro suddenly shut down and wont turn at all.

I tried everything from the SMC Reset and those 10 seconds hold of power button to almost everything of what I found with some solutions on the internet, but unfortunately it didn’t do any good.

Here’s one of the symptoms I’m actually experiencing which made me think that I’m actually having a faulty battery. I tried to charge my system, overnight but the MagSafe indicator doesn’t turn Green at all. Does it mean that the battery is not charging?

When you plugged the MagSafe on. The indicator will turn Green for a second and will turn Amber but thats just about it.

When trying to perform a SMC Reset the indicator also turns Green and then Amber. So I feel like the SMC Reset is working.

I don’t get any sounds or lights when you turn it on. It’s completely dead.

I’m thinking of replacing a new battery but I’m afraid if the problem is in the logic board not the battery.

Anyone can help me will be much appreciated as I’m using this laptop for work. So I can’t do anything about if for a week now, since all the service centers in our area are in lock down due to the pandemic.

Thank you!

Did you get this fixed?

@Lee Edgar - Never got a clear word back on what Albert did here.

Best to create a fresh question with your system info and details on what you are encountering. Hers the start point Ask

Let’s give this a try, follow this guide to Step 6 MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 배터리 교체. Now press the power button a good 20 secs. Setting the system on its side plug in your MagSafe charger does the system should spontaneously startup did it?

Hi dan, thank you for the response. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately after following the steps on the link mentioned aboved. It didnt do anything on the macbook. I have a question though, what does the plastic at the backplate of the macbook do? Cause when my macbook died. The magsafe indicator was turning green after several hours of charging. When I opened the backplate and connect and disconnect the battery plug, the magsafe indicator doest turn green anymore after overnight of charging. SMC Reset works though, as it was changing from green to red after a few seconds.

Looking at the guide I linked to, the image in Step 1. The Black strip at the top edge of the system is called the clutch cover, it covers the antennas and their cables as well as the pathway between the main case and the lid for the display cable and iSight camera feeds.

It sounds like you have a physical damage issue here, is that correct?

Im not sure. But I was hoping it was just a faulty battery, but i dont have any idea how to detect a faulty battery.

If you followed the steps I outlined and the system didn't spontaneously boot you have a logic board issue not a battery issue.

So what gives with the Clutch cover??

Dan, please help me out.

You mean to say, I should follow the steps till step 6.Leaving the battery port disconnected and plug the magsafe in, And hold the power button for about 20 seconds? Should I do it with the backplate covered? If the system boot up. Does it mean I have a faulty battery?
