20V charger + USB C to MagSafe adapter

Hi there :)

I am thinking to but this charger

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402209278454

and that cable MagSafe 2

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/40010921...

Charger has 20V which is too much for those 13” MacBooks as they need something about 16V?

Will it damage MacBook as too high voltage?

Will charger lower Voltage to required voltage?

Can that charger 20V be used to 15inch MacBook which needs something around 18V?

Thank You

No, this is not going to work!

Your chargers USB-A ports or the USB-C port are not designed to support the charging rate and control the MacBook Pro’s battery requires as well as the correct voltage.

The cables are a snake oil salesman’s idea of a solution!

As an example a friend of mine decided her speakers needed to be placed differently. She had the speaker wires I bought here from Radio Shack but they are all gone! So she thought the clear cables looks like what AC power cords look like (zip cord) So she bought two long extension cords and she bought some plugs and in-line outlets which she wired up with the original speaker wires. She was so proud of her self! Plugged it all together and it worked! Now a few moths later her mother arrived for a stay, found the plug had come un plugged and as their was a nearby AC outlet just plugged in the cord! BANG, Smoke and flames! as her expensive Bang-Olufsen stereo blew up! Luckily her mother was able to put out the fire.

Just because you can use a connector solution doesn’t mean the needed function is possible!

after done some research - correct - it would not be good for all MacBooks with Magsafe(2) (as no 18.5V) but....... for all MacBooks (and iPad Pro) with USB C - it will be perfectly fine as 20V support.

@Bart - I wouldn't even use it for my MacBook or MacBook Pro which uses a higher wattage charger! Stick with the correct charger for your system.

An iPhone and iPad are low wattage devices which are a bit different!

Remember this multi-charger is not really designed to be a single device charger which is why its an EITHER - OR type of charger you can use the USB-A ports across a few devices OR a single USB-C device.

And I'm sure the charger is a very basic design which will likely kill your devices over time. Spend some time learning how Apples chargers work and how the knock-offs work. Unless its been certified by Apple and gotten directly from the maker, I won't use just anything!
