backlight goes off sometimes and comes back again

I have a macbook pro.

Have bought it used from a local market.

The problem is sometimes the backlight goes off..

The issue first appeared when I closed the lid and it went to deep sleep. after I opened the lid the backlight is not working. The display is there as I have tested it with a torch pointed at the apple logo and I was able see the desktop and stuff.

After two days of no backlight I turned it on again and the backlight was working.

After a week the backlight again went off when I was working on laptop and it went like for 10 days. I kept trying to turn off and on the laptop and after 10 days it was again working.

And the last time it went off … it just started blinking the lcd backlight… and then the blinking stopped and the keyboard backlight got turned off (Strange). I restarted it and again the keyboard backlight was working and the lcd backlight again off.

I am not sure if it is Backlight IC issue or fuse issue.. (because in those cases it should not be working completely right ?)

Please let me know if anyone knows the possible problem and can point me to the right direction as I am not sure when will it again start to bug and may be never get back.

(I already have tried the pram reset and other reset methods defined on different topics)

The issue did not occur before upgrading the macbook to catalina so I think may be it is a software issue ? I tried to downgrade it to mojave via usb but I seems to have installed again the same catalina version (don’t know why)

I just want to get the idea of the issue so that I can take it to a repair shop and give him a head start because the nearest repair shop is like 200 km away from me so I just want it to be repaired in a single day...

I would appreciate your reply sir...

Sounds like something is not connected firmly or a bad solder joint. A fuse link thats blown won’t come back to life, the backlight driver might have issues and the cable and connectors could as well.

Can you take the bottom cover off? If you can first disconnect the battery following this guide to Step 6 MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement. Now jump to Step 11 disconnect to cable and just like the third picture take a picture of the connector and cable as tight as you can thats still sharp and focused post it here for us to see 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기

hey there...

I am sorry I don’t have a toolkit to open it up...

Between the last time it again went off... There was something odd...

The system was running and suddenly the screen started blinking...

Then it stopped and the keypad light went off... I restarted the computer and again the backlight of LCD was not working...

I just want to get the idea of the issue so that I can take it to a repair shop and give him a head start because the nearest repair shop is like 200 km away from me so I just want it to be repaired in a single day...

I would appreciate your reply sir...

Thanks you.

There is no better answer here.

Think of it this way ... You tell your doctor you have a headache but it goes away and then comes back. Of course he can't tell you the cause without testing you. Thats called a diagnostic process.

Thats what is needed here someone will need to open the system and with the proper tools and training diagnose the cause. It is likely a bad connection but what is not known until someone has discovered the cause.
