I dropped my lovely macbook pro and the optical drive quit working. I ordered a new drive from powerbookmedic.com and put it in but its not working. Is there any setting I need to change or software I need to change?

Hi Jordan,
If it is the optical drive that you are trying to replace, is shouldn't need a software update in theory. Perhaps there is something else wrong, or there is a problem with the new optical drive.
To test wither or not it is the new optical drive that is broken you probably should contact your supplier and see if they can exchange it for you and try again.
Or you can get SATA Wondercable plug in the optical drive and see if it runs.

Just how is it not working? Did you format it and install a system?

All I did was plug it in, I need help with what I need to do to format and install it. Also, I mistyped that, its the OPTICAL drive, not the HARD drive.
