New battery just replaced, will not charge at all

Gents,

I just replaced the battery on a mba mid 2012, and after trying all the resets and comments here, I cant get it to charge.

Attached coconut screenshots of original vs new one.

Tried: smc, pram reset. Then disconnecting battery and press power for a while, then reconnect battery.

I am at a loss of ideas here. There is no damage to this laptop, always working fine. Just old battery needed replacement.

Thanks!

Your CoconutBattery captures are showing the charging logic on the main logic board is damaged! I’m suspecting the charger did you in :-[

You’ll need to get your systems logic board repaired or you can just replace it MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Logic Board Replacement. Given its age it might be time to look at getting a newer system.

Even still we still have an elephant in the room! Apple for many a year fought hard to prevent letting knockoff chargers be imported into the country, sadly, they have now stopped as such the marketplace is now flooded with junk! These knockoffs will harm your system! You’ll need to get a REAL Apple unit Apple 45W MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air If you get your system fixed you’ll want to get a new unit so you don’t damage it again.

Dan,

Can you explain a bit further how you reach that conclusion?

The laptop in general was working just fine with the older battery, of course with very little charge but still.

Also: The charge is working fine, charge is original from laptop, and just tested in a different macbook.

Thanks!

Note the 'Connected' which is good! But the Charging with on the first image is Zero! And the second one is discharging! At 1.18 Watt's which the wrong direction given the state of the battery Zero charge!

This points to the switching logic aiming the MagSafe power to the system not the battery! The circuit that does this sits on the main logic board.

You could try leaving the system on charge for a good 24 hrs turned off to see if that changes anything.
