Black display with backlight, everything else works

I replaced the logic board on my A1342 the other day, and this time everything works, except the internal display. It’s still giving me the black screen with backlight, although if you close it immediately after turning it on, it will show something on the external display. (I’ve tried with the old logic board, still nothing)

Is this an issue with the display itself or something else?

Edit - I should mention that I didn’t set up the computer when I wrote this, now I have and it functions as a normal MacBook would do when connected to another screen, only of course the main screen is dead.

nagayoshi765 you got an external display working on it?

@oldturkey03 yes - finally, but I also discovered the internal display won't display anything at all. No garbled lines this time however.

I set up 10.9 Mavericks on it (since I found my old 10.9 boot disk and the hard drive was empty) and otherwise it works fine with the second display, only of course I don't have the main screen.

Nagayoshi765 since everything else seems to be working well it is possible that this is a display issue. Of course make sure that everything is properly connected and that nothing got damaged around the display connector. I am certain that you already shined a flashlight against your screen to ensure it is not a backlight issue.

This time I'm sure it's a display issue, and I didn't even need to use the flashlight since the backlight was clearly on. All I see is just black, and I've reconnected the display connector. Still just black w/ backlight.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the display or the display cable - it's not the female connector since I tried 2 logic boards and the other (faulty) one would display the same thing, although occasionally there would be garbled lines on the screen (they'd go away if I reset the NVRAM) and I saw the display working on the MacBook the seller of the new logic board took it from.

Please ignore the username change - no idea what happened.

mziku61 in that case you know the best thing to do would be to replace the display.

@oldturkey03 I guess that's another expense for this thing. Might probably sell it first before it has more issues.
