Keyboard and trackpad not recognized by MacBook Air

As title says, the Macbook doesn’t recognize that the keyboard or trackpad are connected. The trackpad also no longer clicks, but maybe it never did and just was a haptic thing and is no longer getting power.

I can get it to boot with an external kb and mouse, just not sure where to begin investigating this problem.
