Conversion into external 5k display + internal speakers

Hi,

well, I’m just about built such “display” but I wonder if I could use internal iMac speakers as well. All 5k display drivers have headphone jack socket and I’m assuming I would need amplifier to connect any speaker into it. As I see there are 2 speakers per channel, one for high and the other for low tone. The case is which small amplifier would work with internal iMac speakers? The best with the one regulator.

Sadly you can’t use the 5K Apple display as its custom display made just for them! There is no driver logic other than what the iMac logic board has to push the display.

Read some of the fine print:

" I can't seem to get the dual DP 1.2 working. I got a 5k image in MacOS but the two halves of the image were out of sync duplicates and it was unusable."

Basically, you won't get 5K all you'll get is the standard DP output. As the adapter unit can't push the display to the max (review the given adapter unit specs).

not sure where the comment comes from. Would you refer the link or time stamp on video? What I see it works with not sync problems once properly configured source in display driver settings.

On aliexpress there are also drivers which works with one DP cable and full 5k resolution.

The newer 27" 5K follow the updated iDP standard.. This series doesn't.

But forget me! Give it a go and tell us if you get the full 5K output. Maybe you don't care as long as you get something.

Dan, got 5k from 2015 iMac and display driver with dual DP connection. It works. fro last month. but this is not what I'm asking for, I'm asking for help with speakers as in initial post. Thanks.
