Issues after replacing swollen battery

Hi!

I recently replaced swollen battery on my 2018 15” MacBook Pro. After replacement there is a problem, sometimes charging adapter is not charging (the charging icon appears for a second and disappears), but this problem is not permanent.

The charging adapter starts working if I plug it to an other MacBook Pro, or after waiting for a while, or if an other charging adapter is plugged in.

Third-party service said that the problem could be caused with a faulty charging adapter and recommended to replace charging adapter.

I didn't replace the charging adapter yet, because I'm a little bit confused.

Please help me, what should i do? I don't know why my MacBook’s battery is swelled.

Did you check if the battery is plugged in properly? and if your battery is showing up in macOS? If it is then it most probably is a battery issue.

If it does not show up in macOS then you might need to open the MacBook and check the battery connection!

There is a couple of things I would do here:

These will allow you to see more clearly what’s happening with your system. I do have a few questions which might offer us some clues on whats happening.

  • You talk about having access to a second system what is it? Is the charger the same or different?
  • Are you using the original charger and the USB-C cabe that came with it or using something different?
