WiFi no hardware installed after battery replacement
I replaced the battery on my early 2015 retina MacBook Pro using the ifixit repair kit, following the guide to a tee. However, after booting up my computer, my wifi does not work. The icon is grayed out with an “x” and tells me “WiFi: No hardware installed”.
I have tried the following, all to no avail:
- Reset SMC
- Reset PRAM/NVRAM
- Make WiFi inactive in System Preferences > Network, reboot, then make it active again
- Boot the computer in Safe Mode
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I chose to buy a wifi dongle from Amazon (which is much cheaper than a new airport card). Surprisingly, after using the wifi dongle for a couple of weeks, my Macbook's wifi started working again! So, my Macbook is back to normal now, although I have no idea how it happened.

I think I would do that for now, buy a wifi dongle. I fear that replacing the airport card might lead to another issue requiring another card to be replaced. I hope that like your case, my wifi comes back eventually. Thank you for your response. BR

Mt wifi issue mysteriously fixed itself after 6 days (yesterday). I did not do anything special except restarting my computer every morning to check the Network to see if the Wifi option appears.
I plugged my iPhone into the MacBook for 6 days to use the internet. I in fact went and got myself a wifi dongle but the wifi reappeared before I'm able to make it work. The wifi dongle needed a driver installed for Macbook vs plug and play for Windows.
