Another Touch ID question and best way to glue or tape it back on

This iPad had a cracked LCD I purchased an assembly and switched it out move the original home button very carefully but like so many others forgot to disconnect the battery. Now the home button works and after an update it no longer gives me an error that it cannot be activated but there is no touch sensing. So when I first put the iPad back together I got the error unable to activate touch ID but now the error doesn’t come up it lets me go to add a fingerprint but it doesn’t detect my finger at all when I touch the button and I cleaned it I read that possibly disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it might help but I doubt that’s what it is. Also I want to be sure the button doesn’t fall through and need advice on the best way to adhere it back on and the bracket I am assuming the bracket will hold the button in and the gasket is just there for sealing it. I thought about putting a drop of glue on that bracket to make sure it doesn’t come back off maybe some 3m 52.00. Seems like most of the tape I bought is OK but not super strong like the original

Get the parts and gasket for the button and the bracket. The cable on the button could be damaged also make sure you seat it properly and use a magnifying lens or app and make sure there is no debris on connector. Glue is fine if you are willing to let it fully cure and resist temptation to let it set for the full cure time. I use the e6000 glue for a long time to attach digitizers and etc…..on my devices…….but it’s a pain to find out that your home is still messed up when you glued the thing in…..but it only takes a minute piece of debris or wax or whatever to disrupt a cable and connection like these. If you don’t keep your original Touch ID button in good shape and repair yourself it might be a good idea to just replace it and just use a passcode….I don’t use my home button much with the gestures you can create…..pretty useful

Thanks, I have some B7000 I can try but I ordered the new gasket and bracket and I'll double check the connection. I'm not that worried about the touch sensor either just thought if there was something I need to check before I glue it all back down I'll check it but I was very carefully with it. After several iphones with no issues this is the first Ipad I've done, live and learn.
