Optical drive only works when removed from metal casing

Hi all,

I picked up an Xbox One with a broken disc drive for $20 (Yee haw!). Before I opened the Xbox, it could read games but sometimes made a grinding noise.

After opening the optical drive, I found one of the linkages on the mechanical side had became undone so fixed it and tested it numerous times while it was still out of the metal casing. Worked great. However, once I slid it back into the metal casing and put the bottom cover back on, it won’t read games! It WILL read CDs, which I find strange. I’ve “recased” this drive about 10 times now…
