Funky display, external monitor doesn't work

Display used to work, now can’t see anything but colors are visible in cracks (see image). Want to replace display. Hooked to my TV via Tb3 port and Tb3—>mini-display connector—>HDMI. NO image on TV, not even the lines I can see on laptop (see image) and TV says “no signal”.

Will this machine not display on my HDMI TV? I’m concerned that this mean something besides the display and/or cable is bad? VERY recent (when display only partially gone) hardware diagnostics run and they said all was OK. Suggestions??

Sorry. Tried Command-F1 and it didn't switch to TV. TV is Panasonic Plasma, NOT 4K.

Ouch! Your display is cracked! What does the rest of the system look like is the case damaged or bent in any way?

Case appears just fine; no dents or bends or misalignment. Glass over the display is NOT cracked.

Your display is made up layers! The back glass layer is cracked not the top layer you can touch. The back layer is more fragile layer it doesn't like bangs or being twisted.

To be sure of things you really need to try a better external display setup without using so many adaptions as any one of the adapters you are using could be messing you up. If the image is clean on the external then you know for sure.

So… Let’s assume the signal is present on the TB3 ports, then all we need to do here is replace the damaged display assembly following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys 2017 디스플레이 어셈블리 교체 and well need the following part:

If you are sure you have no external display then you need the display as well as need your logic board repaired or it too will need to be replaced. This maybe beyond repair.
