Surface Pro 5 not powering on

Replaced the internal Charging Port Connector and now the adapter light stays on, but the surface will not power on. Left it to charge overnight and still no change. I’ve tried all of the soft reset options, so now I believe something on the logic board is fried. If the battery was completely dead would the unit still power on when plugged in?
