Help Me to Identify a Part in MacBook Pro Early 2011 Motherboard

Hi Friends,

I’m facing a strange issue (after using the laptop for more than 10 hours continuously) similar to this thread. Can anyone identify this component on logic board of MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.0 15" Early 2011

I’m unable to power on the system, battery is not getting charged but when I hold the power button and plug the MagSafe it works. But still battery not getting charged (tested with a new battery also).

I scanned the Motherboard closely and identified a component which seems to be burnt out. Can someone help me to identify this component and whether is this related the to the above issue i’m facing? And how easy to replace this component?

Showing a picture of ones house won't tell me where your house is located Street, township, county, region and country!

So while you've given us a good picture here, I have no idea where on the logic board you are pointing to.

While the solder joints look a little rough, I don't think that's your problem at this point. Some how we need to get your system to a running state so we can run the onboard diagnostics to see what the system is able to tell us.

Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac

@danj Hello Dan,

This is related to the same observations which i mentioned on the another thread but focusses on just on the motherboard and the components .

Not Booting and No display

I even ran the Diagnostics and i don't see any issues there.

Please see attached image on the location of the eroded areas which i suspect.

So what is the MagSafe & battery checker telling you?

I was hoping you would have replaced the logic board. At that point or have tried to find someone with deeper skills to fix your logic board.

You stated you tried a new battery. Do you have access to another MacBook Pro which uses the same battery? If you do lets leverage it to charge and test your systems battery. The MagSafe cord LED should be Amber while its charging and turn to Green when charged. You may need to let the system plugged in for a good 8 hours to get fully charged. Use the onboard battery checker to see how it goes.

How many of the tiny LED’s are lit? Are they blinking or steady?

If you don’t have a second system what is your systems MagSafe and battery checker tell you?

I went to a Local Store and they Identified the Issue and Fixed the Same. They told that the Issue is the Power IC seems to be Burnt. Wondering how the Laptop worked without the Power IC…and the only Issue i was facing earlier was Not charging (but showed green light).

Anyway thanks for all your inputs.
