Brightness works but no image, external display works

Hi there, I have a 2014 MBP and the screen has gone black. If I adjust the brightness, you can tell the screen is getting brighter—kinda like you can tell you didn't turn off your TV due to the visibility of the backlighting. My external display works fine.

Is this possibly something affordable to fix? And is this a user-friendly task On this model.
