New disc drive I installed only works/spins a fraction of the time

I just installed a new disc drive which I got off amazon. PS3 slim model. I'll post the link below.

It works, but I've only gotten it to spin up and read a disc twice out of maybe 20 times. Tried both DVD and Game. It looks new. Any idea what the issue could be?

I should mention that when I managed to get it to read the disc and I quit out of the game, is STILL recognized the game and I was able to start it back up.
