Why does my battery replacement say "0% available, plugged in"?

Hi, I don’t know where else to look. I bought an iFixit battery and put it in an SP4. It turns on with power adapter connect, but turns off immediately after you unplug it. I tried going to device manager and uninstalling the battery driver + doing a full reset (via power + volume up)…nothing. I ran “powercfg /batteryreport ” and it recognizes the battery and says it’s fully charged.

Edit: a co-worker tested the capacitor that is known to fail and it is good.

I have been having this problem on an old Toshiba Equium with a old original 14 year old battery, its strange that this is happening on a new battery!

If your laptop is unable to run off battery then try turning off your laptop and let it charge for an hour or so. If the battery still does not charge most likely the cells in the battery have dropped below the allowable low voltage because you have not charged the battery in a long time, the battery protection circuit might have kicked in to prevent charging the battery for safety reasons.

Try the following methods.

Thanks for responding. This is a new battery that I bought from iFixit. I have charged is on and off. I used a different charger, and for a brief period it was fluctuating from 0% to 100% then back to )5, etc...

I tried both ways in the links you posted, as stated in my description. Though, I didn't uninstall the drivers and disconnect the battery to the Surface Pro 4. I will try that.

@crucier Sure, keep me posted, thank you!
