That seems like a strange issue to occur but one thing you could do is reset it.

To reset the controller:

1. Turn off and unplug your PS4.
2. Locate the small reset button on the back of the controller near the L2 shoulder button.
3. Use a small tool to push the button inside the tiny hole. Hold the button down for roughly 3-5 seconds.
4. Connect the controller to the PS4 using a USB cable and press the PS button.
5. If the light bar turns blue, the controller has paired.

The small tool you can use is a SIM card tool, a paperclip, or sometimes even a ball point pen works.

You can also try holding the share and PS button at the same time for a few seconds. You should see the controller’s front light flash rapidly a few times, meaning it’s ready for bluetooth pairing. It should work with usb cable though, like you did.

Do this on the start screen of the PS4, waiting for a controller. If it works it will recognise the controller by it self and the light will stop flashing.
