Replaced trackpad, but mouse still isn't moving?

I replaced the trackpad to my Macbook Pro Mid 2010 A1278 after the previous one was damaged, but it will only click. I cannot move the mouse with the trackpad. The battery is a newer one and was replaced not too long ago. It is not swollen and I’ve tried the trackpad by turning on the Macbook Pro without the battery installed, but I still have the issue, so I don’t think it’s battery related. I don’t think there would be any issue with the logic board, but I guess maybe it got damaged somehow?

The mouse was clicking but not moving before I replaced the trackpad, so I thought it was because the trackpad and ribbon cable were damaged, but now that I’ve replaced the entire trackpad, I’m not sure that was the issue anymore.

Does anyone know of a fix to a mouse that clicks but doesn’t move? Or is it possible the trackpad I ordered from Ifixit was defective? Any idea how to tell? Or how to tell if it’s a logic board issue or something else? I’m grateful for any solutions or advice!
