I have a 2013 Macbook air that I did an erase and reinstall. Everything booted up fine. The next morning I got the question mark Icon at start-up.
I then powered down and re-booted in Recovery mode. Nothing. Black screen. Went through the NVRAM/PRAM process (command, option P+R) at startup.
Screen blinks as it chimes, blinks again at second chime. Still have black screen.
Dead drive?

Well I do have a small piece of good news your SSD is not one of the defective SSD’s Apple had Apple Recalls Mid-2012 MacBook Air For SSD Replacement – 64GB and 128GB SSD Systems Affected Even still it Looks like your SSD has failed.
You’ll need to create a bootable USB thumb drive to boot your system to make sure. If you can achieve that then you likely need a new drive.

How do you create a bootable usb thumb drive?
Do you have a friend with a Mac that can help you create the needed USB Thumb drive OS installer?
First you’ll need to have him download the OS you want to use. I would recommend either sticking with macOS Mojave 10.14.x. Mojave used the newer APFS file system. While your system can support Catalina 10.15.x you’ll loose access to older 32bit apps. So here’s the site to get the OS’s How to get old versions of macOS.
You’ll need to format the USB thumb drive using Disk Utility to GUID and a Journaled file system before you start, then follow this guide How to create a bootable macOS Mojave installer drive. Once you have the working installer you should be able to boot up under it.

I would still try accessing your internal drive once you have your USB OS installer drive, you may need to reformat and re-install your OS.
If you are looking at getting a replacement drive OWC drives are what I recommend. Just don't go too small! Ideally you want 1/3 to 1/4 of the drive left empty! Your system will run smoother and your SSD will last longer!
I have a bootable drive with Mojave. I have a new OWC ssd. Should I keep the original ssd in and try to boot to the bootable drive? I would do this by starting up and pressing command -option correect. What are the steps needed to possibly get this thing running.

Well it does sound like you have a SSD issue. So can you give us a bit more on the drive make and model. Post a picture if that helps 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기

Honestly I do not know. It is a a 2013 Macbook air. 8G hard drive... How would i go about finding out type and then replacing?

Pop the bottom cover off following this guide MacBook Air 11" Mid 2013 SSD Replacement Stop at Step 2 and then take a picture of the SSD it should have a label on it, if not finish following the guide to fully remove the SSD and look on the other side and take a picture of the label on that side 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기
