Battery is not charging after reassembling the right part
I bought a refurbished Mac with a new battery. After a few days, I noticed that a (“tak tak” ) noise was coming on the right side. Opening the case I saw that the battery cell on the right of the SSD/Touchpad was not fixed (see the picture with the red box). So the plan was to get a Tesa paste and change the band under it.
However, I made the following mistakes in the process:
- The battery didn’t come out easily once the double-sided Tesa band has arrived. I didn’t have an adhesive remover so I had to apply a bit. The battery is bent ca 20-25 degrees but became straight again. There is no damage in the case, (no liquid leak).
- I put rubber tape all around the battery pack. Then I realized that new batteries come with a U-shape (see the picture with a green box).
- There is a metal line under the battery, which is pasted originally. However, my battery is not fully in contact with this metal. (see the picture with a yellow box). Is this ground? Can not contacting this part create the problem described below?
The MacBook opens. However, the battery is not getting charged, SMC reset didn’t help. I applied a bit of force to make a connection to this metal part, turned back the laptop (the screen side is on the surface). Then, the battery is charged. After using the laptop a bit the problem of the battery not charging occurred again.
The system report shows that the battery is healthy (normal). It ran for ca an hour. Then, the charge level dropped to 10% from 70% or so.
- Did I ruin my battery?
- What is this metal part (the picture with the yellow box )? Is it possible that my battery not connecting to this part is the problem? If yes, how do I paste my battery unit to this metal?
Edit: In order to charge the battery, I have to close the notebook and plug in the Magsafe cable. It doesn't charge if I plug and unplug the charging cable multiple times after opening the Macbook.
Edit: Measurements from cocounatBattery for different battery levels and system info are attached.

Thanks for the answer.
I updated the images.
I was able to run the MacBook for almost an hour or so with the full charge. It suddenly dropped to 10% from ca 80%.
I had to shut down the computer and wait a bit to start charging the battery. The battery is not charging If I unplug and plug the MagSafe connector a few times after starting the Macbook.

@akif_ - Any luck on getting the CoconutBattery with a full battery.

@dan, thanks again. I added the measurements for a fully charged battery level. It took 45 -55 mins to decrease from 100% to 80%. Then the battery level dropped to 20%. I was able to use it for another 20 - 30 mins until it shut down.
