My Asus UX303 won't start again

Before I had this issue I spilled some liquid on my laptop and after a while, I needed to disable the built-in keyboard by the command “sc config i8042prt start= disabled“ and I kept using an external keyboard. It worked very well with no issues for a long time. knowing that I never turned off the laptop, but the battery ran out and the laptop turned off and never started again. I can see the battery light and power plug indicator but nothing happened when I press the power button.

I don’t know if the issue is about the disabled keyboard that the power button (one of the keyboard keys) won’t work or it has some other issues. I ran several tests to see if the battery or the power plug is the problem but none of them hit. I tried to remove the CMOS battery and still nothing changed. Please does anyone have any idea what is the problem and how can I bring my laptop back to life again?

The impurities in the liquid causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the laptop’s operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away.

Too late now but I think that the corrosion has finally caused the laptop to fail.

You should have disconnected the battery from the motherboard and cleaned the motherboard etc when the liquid spill first occurred.

You can only try and see if you can resurrect it by opening the laptop and disconnecting the battery and cleaning all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) to remove all traces of corrosion. If possible do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is only 70% IPA or less, can contain additives and is not as effective. If you do have to use it check the label to verify the amount of IPA. The higher the percentage of IPA the better

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted pcb be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board. Remove the shields that may be covering some components as the corrosion may be under there. The ends of any flex cables and their connectors need to be cleaned as well

Hopefully after you have done all this the laptop might possibly work correctly again although keyboards are difficult to fix so you may have to replace it instead.

First I want to mention that the spelled liquid is a nail polish, acetone, which evaporates quickly, and it definitely has damaged the keyboard completely since it is not working properly, but I believe it has not reached the other parts.

I disassembled the laptop but I didn't find any sign of liquid on the other internal parts as the keyboards do. After I assembled it again it turned on perfectly!!! I have no idea whether I did something wrong in previous disassembling attempts or it might have some invisible liquid residue.

Since I don't really know what is the real issue here do you have any suggestions on what are the best things to do to prevent any unenforceable issues? Do I still have to clean the internal parts?

If you're not having anymore problems, leave it alone.

If you experience problems or if you just want to satisfy yourself that everything is OK then you may have to open it up and visually check using a strong light and a magnifying glass.

Acetone evaporates quickly but leaves residues which if in the wrong place can cause a problem but it should be evident by now.
